The Cape Fear River in North Carolina has been found to contain very concerning amounts of PFAS also know as the ‘Forever Chemical’ because it breaks down very slowly. PFAS are widespread in our environment and are linked to serious health issues such as infertility and cancer. North Carolina is riddled with childhood cancer clusters. We recently completed a study in Lake Norman, NC where Duke Energy has contaminated the surrounding area with Coal Ash, a toxic byproduct of burning coal that contains heavy metals.
